- Job Purpose
- i) The position will assist CIHRS and the Communications Unit in designing campaigns by taking the lead on digital media campaigns according to CIHRS' mission and goals using an array of digital media tools. They will establish and strengthen CIHRS' online presence, and engage in planning CIHRS' campaigns on social media platforms. The required content will be created by the Digital Media Officer through their in-depth understanding of these platforms, including technical requirements and monitoring the habits and preferences of the target audience(s).
- ii) The position will assist in the design, layout and coding of the CIHRS website, including the technical and graphical aspects.
- Job Description
- Generate, edit, and publish engaging content daily on CIHRS' website and social media platforms;
- Manage and expand social media audiences across various platforms and develop content (Arabic/English) in line with CIHRS brand/strategy;
- Create digital media campaigns based on specific goals and adapt them to the target audience(s)
- Be an internal expert on marketing and audience development standards, best practices, benchmarks and insights;
- Assist CIHRS' web developer with the design, layout and coding of the CIHRS website, including technical and graphical aspects as well as website maintenance and regular update;
- Help the Communications Unit in generating and refining regular internal reporting on digital media activities and producing analysis on how to improve CIHRS digital media footprint;
- Manage interactions with journalists and the public on social media platforms, respond to their inquiries and requirements, and evaluate their reactions;
- Monitor current technologies and trends in social media, design tools and applications; and lead CIHRS in developing new platforms and tools.
- Experience in journalism or digital media;
- Nuanced understanding of the human rights situation in the Arab region and related debates, challenges, and opportunities for protecting and promoting human rights regionally and internationally;
- Experience in media campaigning at the level of planning, implementation, and content creation, preferably in the field of human rights;
- Excellent networking skills with journalists, especially those interested in the Arab region;
- Knowledgeable about new and alternative social media platforms, and the best content, tools, and practices for their production;
- Familiarity with WordPress;
- Advanced digital security knowledge;
- Broad understanding of different publishing platforms (print, websites, blogs, social media, audio, and video platforms), familiarity with their publishing requirements, and ability to create suitable content for each;
- Proficiency in writing for all types of traditional media and new social media platforms in both Arabic and English, with a nuanced understanding of the language skills needed to target English speaking audience(s) and their difference(s) from the multiple Arabic-speaking audiences throughout the region;
- Proficiency in script writing and writing for videos, documentaries, and broadcasts;
- The ability to work within a growing, widely-spread, and diverse team in different countries;
- Experience in media monitoring and evaluating media performance by qualitative and quantitative;
- reports that reflect the Communications Unit's performance and highlight its needs;
- Ability to work well under pressure, with appropriate speed and quality;
- Full command of Arabic and English (French is an added bonus).
- 1-year contract subject to a 3-month probation period. Renewal is subject to evaluation
