Détails de l'opportunitéRégions concernées par cette opportunité: TunisieTitle: Tourism Business Enabling Environment InternLength of Assignment: Short-TermReports to: Business Enabling Environment Team Leader * BACKGROUNDThe USAID-funded Visit Tunisia Activity is a 5-year project designed to enhance Tunisia's tourism potential, with the goal of generating revenue and jobs, particularly for women and youth, and for populations in underserved regions of the country. The overall vision behind USAID's investment in Tunisia's tourism sector is to capitalize on Tunisia's natural, cultural, heritage and historical sites to develop a more diversified and high-quality tourism sector that contributes to broad-based economic growth. Through this activity, USAID seeks to contribute to Tunisia's growth and development to offset the negative economic impact of the coronavirus crisis. The project will seek to achieve the following four objectives:
  • Objective 1: Enhance Tunisia's competitiveness as a tourism destination;
  • Objective 2: Increase tourism-related investments and revenue;
  • Objective 3: Improve the enabling environment for sustained growth in the tourism sector; • Objective 4: Private sector engagement to expand the offer and quality of alternative tourism.
This project will collaborate with the relevant ministries, private sector, and donors to advance the objectives while contributing to the following high-level results: * Increase in the number of tourists.
  • Increase in the number of jobs in the tourism sector.
  • Increase in tourism revenue.
  • Increase in private sector-led investment and innovation in the tourism sector.
2. POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Tourism Business Enabling Environment Intern will support the Tourism Business Enabling Environment Component in conducting research, collecting data, performing data analysis and reporting.The Intern's duties will include project activity implementation, research, data collection, data analysis, communications, and report preparation. The Intern will provide support to the Tourism Business Enabling Environment team in the implementation of activities that will be agreed on a weekly basis and prioritized together with the intern's supervisor.Internship at the VISIT TUNISIA Project will provide the Intern with valuable exposure to a range of tourism development aspects while working with an experienced team of tourism international development professionals. * DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIESThe Internship position requires strong inter-personal, communication and business skills to complete the tasks associated with its broad responsibilities, including those listed below.
  • Provide support in development of database of project relevant private sector and public sector organizations, relevant for research purposes and other communication needs. • Provide support with desk research for various needs related to tourism product development, human capital development and tourism quality assurance.
  • Provide support in translation and review of various project related documents, including but not limited to surveys for planned research activities.
  • Provide support in preparation of technical report, power point presentations, and meeting aide memoires.
  • Provide support to monitor closely tourism related press and keep a track of market trends and opportunities.
  • Other duties and activities as requested by the Team and agreed with the Team Leader.
4. PERIOD OF INTERNSHIPThis is a short-term internship position for (6)Six months. * LOCATION OF THE ASSIGNMENTThis assignment will be in based in Tunis, intern will be required to attend the VISIT TUNISIA office on a daily basis, except when work place protocols direct otherwise. * SUPERVISION AND REPORTINGThe Intern will report to the Business Enabling Environment Team Leader. * QUALIFICATIONSThe Intern should possess the following range of qualifications and experiences:
  • Bachelor's degree in tourism management, hospitality management, business administration, or a related field is required.
  • Master's degree in tourism management or related field is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills is required.
  • Fluent English required.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills is desired.
  • Strong research and analytical skills is desired.
  • A passion for tourism development and sustainable tourism development is desired.
  • Experience working or interning with USAID projects or other donor entities is desired.
